We believe that our children need to feel safe, secure, happy and loved.
We aim to provide a secure, happy, consistent and nurturing environment for your children at all times at the Growing Tree Learning Center.
Growing Tree Learning Center was born out of a suggestion from our children’s childcare teachers as well as a realized need in our local community.
They credit their inspiration to their 7 adopted children, Chance, Aiden, Emma, Gabriella, Max, Joseph and Destiny!
We started our journey as Dad’s when we began fostering children in 2018. We have had a total of 12 children through our home since then. God blessed us by being able to adopt 7 of those children and kept three biological sibling groups together.
We look forward to partnering with the community and providing a safe and nurturing environment to care for our most precious gifts, our children.
Hello, my name is Ashley Mitchell. I am a Mother of three wonderful children, Andrew, Austin and Ashtin. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to Ashtin’s softball games and routing for those Steelers! I bring with me an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and over 17 years in the field working as a Teacher, Assistant Director and Director.
Hello! My name is Susan Minor, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Growing Tree Learning Center family. I bring over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, including owning and operating a Virginia State Licensed childcare and homeschooling my children from preschool through high school.
As a mom of six—three biological and three foster/adopted sons—I’m passionate about creating nurturing, hands-on learning environments that inspire curiosity and lifelong learning. I believe children grow best through play, exploration, and strong partnerships between families and educators. I’m excited to work together with the Growing Tree community to help every child learn, grow, and thrive.
Hi, my name is Lisa. I am excited to start a new career path at Growing Tree Learning Center. I currently hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Admin/ Marketing and a Minor in Family and Consumer Science. I spent many years in the management field until deciding to start a family with my husband. I am a Mom of four.. Hayden, Jax, and twins Pia and Embry. Working with children is a great passion of mine. I look forward to building lasting relationships with you and your children and making a positive impact in their lives.
Hello! My name is Kate, and I’m so excited to learn and grow alongside you and your kiddos. I’m originally from Massachusetts and recently bought a home here with my boyfriend. I love new adventures—and, of course, working with children!
I’ve been involved with kids since my early teens in a variety of roles, including teacher’s aide, unified sports volunteer, camp counselor, and cheer and gymnastics coach. I currently work as a Registered Behavioral Therapist, providing ABA services outside of Growing Tree.
I’m so happy to be part of your child’s journey and look forward to watching them grow, learn, and thrive every day!
